Ball mill is a kind of grinding machine used to grind the crushed materials into extremely fine power, this series ball mill is mainly applied for industrial and mining enterprise such as Mining Ore Gold Copper Lead Manganese Iron Slag Sliver Aluminum Limestone Gypsum Powder ,metallurgy, building materials, chemical and other grindable materials, it can be used for wet and dry milling, open circuit grinding, also for the circle grinding with power feeder. This machine has it’s own advantage of rational design, strong adaptability to raw materials, running fast, high crushing ratio, large capacity and easy to operate. So What is the difference between wet and dry grinding of ball mill? Please see the specific analysis below.

1、 Different scope of application
The dry ball mill requires that the materials must be dry and cannot contain water or other liquids. It is applicable to cement, building stones and other materials that will produce other substances when meeting water; The finished materials required to be stored and sold in the form of powder can also be dry ground;
The wet ball mill requires that the material cannot change when it meets water. Water or anhydrous ethanol can be added during grinding. Most ores are subject to water grinding. During wet grinding, the proportion of steel ball, material and water is 4:2:1, but the proportion will change with different materials. The specific proportion needs to be determined through grinding test.

2、 Different equipment structures
The basic structure of dry ball mill and wet ball mill is composed of feed section, discharge section, transmission section (reducer, small transmission gear, motor, electric control), rotary section and other main parts.
The difference lies in the discharge department: the discharge port of the dry ball mill is a straight cylinder type, which uses the grate plate mill tail for discharge, and the discharge is symmetrical. In addition, in order to avoid dust pollution, the dry ball mill is also equipped with air induction device, dust exhaust pipe, dust remover and other auxiliary equipment; The discharge port of the wet ball mill is trumpet shaped, with built-in screw device, which is convenient for discharging, high grinding fineness and good beneficiation effect.

3、 Different advantages and characteristics
The dry type ball mill adopts grate plate mill tail discharge, which is symmetrical and smooth, with low failure rate, and will not produce paste grinding, swelling and other phenomena, without adding water, saving water resources and costs. However, in the grinding process, there are sometimes dead corners, and the materials entering the dead corners are difficult to grind.
The wet ball mill has high crushing efficiency, wide application range, and can be continuously produced. The fineness of the finished material can also be adjusted, which can effectively avoid the occurrence of “closure” of mineral material cracks. Since water is required in the grinding process, there is no material that cannot be grinded in the dead corner, and dust pollution is also avoided. However, the materials after water milling need to be dried, which increases the cost.
