Ball mill is an indispensable grinding equipment in the beneficiation process, any mineral sorting are inseparable from the grinding. So the role of the ball mill in the production line is very important. At present, there are many manufacturers of ball mills on the market. There are various types of ball mills and various functions. Therefore, users are sometimes confused when faced with choices and do not know how to choose.
This article introduces six different ball mill classification methods from Jiangxi Hengchang, as well as the applicable range of various ball mills, so that you can choose.

According to the shape of the cylinder Classified (according to the ratio of length to diameter)
1. Short cylinder ball mill: The cylinder length L is less than 2 times the cylinder diameter D. That is the ball mill with L≤2D is a short tube ball mill,it is usually a single warehouse structure, which is mainly used for rough grinding operations or primary grinding operations. Its operating efficiency is high, and it can realize the simultaneous use of 2-3 ball mills in series, and its use range is wide.
2. Middle length cylinder ball mill: The cylinder length L=3D is medium-length ball mill.
3. Long cylinder ball mill: The cylinder length L≥4D is long ball mill. It is generally divided into 2-4 warehouses.

According to the shape of the grinding media loaded in the mill
1. The grinding media installed in the steel ball mill is mainly steel forging or steel balls. This type of mill has a large grinding force, a light structure and a stable speed.
2. The rod mill is mainly used for the grinding of steel rod media. The diameter of the steel rod is mostly between 50-100mm and the grinding time is longer. The number of bins of rod mills generally varies from two to four, and there are certain differences in the grinding media loaded in each bin. In order to ensure the grinding effect, the staff will put the cylindrical steel rod in the first bin, and put the steel balls or steel sections in the other bins.
3. The grinding media in the gravel mill mainly includes pebbles, gravel, sand, ceramic balls, etc. Gravel mills mostly use porcelain or granite as the liner, and are widely used in the production of colored cement, white cement, ceramics and other fields.

Classified by way of discharge
1. Tail-discharging mill: The tail-discharging mill uses its head and tail as its abrasive inlet and outlet respectively. When the mill is working, the staff feeds the abrasive from the inlet end and unloads it from the other end.
2. Middle discharge mill: The entrance of the middle discharge mill is at both ends, and the outlet is in the middle of the mill. Workers usually feed abrasives from both ends, and then unload them from the middle of the cylinder.

Classified by discharge method
1. Overflow type: discharge through the hollow shaft.
2. grid type: discharge ore through lattice plates.
3. Peripheral type: discharge through the periphery of the cylinder.

Classified by Transmission
1. Center drive ball mill: The drive power end of this type of mill is in the center of the machine body, and the electric motor realizes the operation of the ball mill through a reducer. During operation, the hollow shaft in the center of the ball mill drives the mill body to rotate under the drive of the power system.
2. Edge drive ball mill: The motor drives the gear on the edge of the cylinder through the reducer to drive the cylinder to move.

Classified by job characteristics
1. Wet type ball mill: Water is added while feeding, and the material is discharged into a certain concentration of slurry and discharged, and it forms a closed-circuit operation with hydraulic classification equipment in a closed-circuit system.
2. Dry type ball mill: some of the discharge is drawn out by air flow. The mill and the wind classification device form a closed circuit. For example, the cement mill uses self-flow discharge.
At present, the more commonly used ball mills are the overflow type ball mill and the grid type ball mill.
